. Confession

Forgive us Blog, for we have sinned.  It has been 3 months since our last post.

Anyway, a couple of weekends ago Diane took us on an excellent hike in Sonoma State Park.

And then to Copain Wines in Healdsburg where they have excellent pinot noir in really big glasses and old guys that stare at you while you drink it.

. Last Chance to See

California desperately needs to find some cash for billionaire tax breaks, so it's shutting down 70 State Parks.

China Camp in San Rafael is one for the chop, so we went for an eight mile hike along its Bay View Trail with graduate of the Sorbonne, Ellen Heck.

. Moving Doodles

Sometimes doodling in a sketchbook just isn't a big enough distraction from the meetings I'm supposed to be paying attention to. Fortunately, now there's Inchworm for the Nintendo DS.

Animated doodles!

Here's my first go.

. Forgot to mention

Last December I put the Kooky trailer in my list of favourite things of the year.

I was wondering when it was ever going to come out on DVD.

Then Nif got me the blu-ray for Christmas.

And it is great.

. Guy Fawkes Night

Friday night was Guy Fawkes Night, so we went to Muir Beach with our roasted chestnuts and our baked potatoes, just like we said we would.

. Done

On Friday we finished Animation on the Megamind DVD short. Celebrations kicked off at the Miraloma Club, and continued well into the early evening.

. Noise Maker

For my 40th birthday, Nif commissioned several of our arty friends to make arty things. One of the things was a Sesame Street funny noise toy that our friend Cory re-engineered to make even funnier noises.

Here it is in action, performed by Cory himself.

. The Addict

This is the first bit of stop-motion I ever did, back in 1991.

Were you even born then?

It's quite awful.

. NYC

Nif went to New York City for a week with her art school chums. See how arty they are.

I went too, and wandered the streets. See how street I am.

We blew all our air-miles on a schmancy hotel in Soho.

Then we stayed for a few days in Brooklyn with our lovely friends Tina and Colin and Una.

Here's a movie I made -

. Pressure

On Valentine's Day we did some pressure printing at Nif's college. You stick a bunch of stuff on a piece of paper and then run it through a letterpress machine. It's good for making interesting textures and backgrounds. Nif told me this repeatedly before we began. But I wanted to make a complete picture, not just a background, so that's what I did. And then when it turned out a bit crap I asked Nif why she hadn't told me just to make a background.

. SF Beer Week

It's Beer Week here in San Francisco, so we took the bus up Haight Street, past the long line of people queued round the block to get into the Toronado, and went to Magnolia instead.

They had "strong beer and cheese pairings." Here is our in-depth report on the situation.

The Queen has her silver jubilee.

The USA reinstates the death penalty and executes serial killer Gary Gilmore by firing squad.

The cold war continues.

I am at my Uncle Jeff's farm in Skipwith, North Yorkshire, in little brown shorts and a Micky Mouse t-shirt.
